U.S. DOL Proposed Rule Hopes to Protect Worker Privacy 1 Year, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
According to an article published in the Associated Builders & Contractors newsletter, the U.S. Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division published a proposed rule on October 20 that would revise regulations relating to the Davis-Bacon Act and the Copeland Anti-Kickback Act.

This proposed rule would eliminate the reporting of the home address and social security numbers of each employee on weekly certified payroll reports.

Currently in CPS, we have provided you with the ability to "choose" how you wish to display employee social security numbers, see Changing How Social Security Numbers Are Displayed on Your Final Reports.

More information is supposed to be available after November 19, 2008 and we will be monitoring this closely and making any necessary program modifications.

For more information regarding the article from ABC, visit their website at http://www.abc.org/Newsroom2/News_Letters/2008_Archives/Issue_42/DOL_Proposed_Rule_Hopes_to_Protect_Worker_Privacy.aspx

A final ruling on this issue was made on 12/19/08 and announced in the Federal Register Volume 73, with an effective date of January 18, 2009.

Watch for a complete follow-up (by Monday 1/12/09), in the meantime, if you would like the governmental "legal-eze" version, click here

Stay tuned!

Read about the IMPORTANT Revisions to the U.S. Department of Labor/Federal WH-347 Reporting Mandates Regarding Protecting the Privacy of Workers, here on our website http://www.sunburstsoftwaresolutions.com/new-federal-wh-347-reporting-mandates-effective-1/18/09.htm

This is written in good old "plain & simple" English without all the legal-eze.
